Job description
The purpose of the Quality Engineer is to enhance quality across business and manufacturing processes by maintaining compliance to requirements, ensuring product conformity, and undertaking a proactive role in problem resolution. Continuous improvement of CSC’s processes will be used to reduce risks of nonconformance by ensuring effectiveness and efficiency through the system. The Quality Engineer will play an active role in Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities in the design, manufacture and certification of safety critical products.
Responsibilities
This is not an exhaustive list, but is a general guide of the main duties of the role:
- Develop a strong process and product based knowledge in the manufacturing of high pressure vessels and associated equipment.
- Supporting the business maintain accreditations including ISO 9001 whilst developing knowledge in industry specific schemes including AD2000 and DOT.
- Review new and amended customer and regulatory requirements, including Customer Specific Quality Requirements (CSR’s) to determine necessary Integrated Management System (IMS) developments.
- Robust root cause analysis using reported internal and external nonconformities to enable the development of preventative actions leading to systemic business improvement.
- Perform internal process audits, Integrated Management System (IMS) audits and support Supplier Quality audits.
- Prepare internal and customer quality reports to support the monitoring and management of business quality objectives.
- Working alongside customers representatives and third party notified bodies to develop Inspection and Test Plans, enabling the successful manufacturing, testing and sign off of key manufacturing operations.
- Undertake inspection quality control activities at key gate stages and final product release.
- Direct involvement in the application of inspection tools, techniques and systems.
- Use of the internal NCR database to analyse trends and liaise with manufacturing engineers to identify and implement improvement activities.
- Participate in improvement activities to gain experience and develop knowledge in Special Processes including NDT, paint, visual inspection, heat treatment, forging, oxygen cleanliness, welding, mechanical and hydraulic testing.
- Ensure that product is compliant with customer requirements, including relevant documentation, prior to invoicing and dispatch.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of Quality / Engineering role in a manufacturing company or a relevant formal qualification.
- Knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 quality standards
- Knowledge and experience of ISO 14001, 45001 standards (desirable)
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment (desirable)
- Lead or Internal auditor qualification (desirable)
- Continuous Improvement qualification / formal training (desirable)
