Technical Document Controller
Working hours: 37 hours per week; Monday to Thursday 07:45 – 16:15 & Friday 07:45 – 12:45.

Job description
This key role in the Quality team is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all documentation requirements associated with the company’s product delivery; this includes Material Reference Books to full documentation packs for Naval projects and certification for product streams including aircraft, trailers, packs and defence. The role is both ‘hands-on’ and also one of continuous improvement, bringing best practice to the function and stream-lining the preparation of the documentation.
Responsibilities
This is not an exhaustive list, but is a general guide of the main duties of the role:
- Certification of company product across all production routes
- Work with the production department to ensure documentation is complete and accurate prior to submission
- Review of manufacturing records for conformity to internal procedures, customer specifications and national standards. Store and maintain production records for easy retrieval and certification when required
- Review and collate manufacturing documentation into Manufacturing Review Books (MRB’s) for third party and customer submission.
- Support Project Manager, Production leadership and associated colleagues in determining completeness of documentation prior to product progression through key gate stages
- Ensure that all Document & Certification packs are correctly archived and can be readily accessed
- For all UK MOD related projects, maintain cylinder product and test databases
- Undertake Kit Checks prior to build to ensure fittings are suitable for the allocated project build
- Peer review colleagues certification to ensure RFT submission of paperwork to customers
- Ensure certification for bought-in products and services conforms with contract specification requirements
- Liaise with Third Party Inspectors and Customers Representatives on site with regard to documentation acceptance and sign off
- Ensure Document & Certification packs are made available to customers utilising web based portals and electronic document sharing software where applicable
- Continuously develop and then maintain a Document Management System
- Manage all flows of documents either in electronic form or on paper support
- Assistance in the preparation collation and issue of reports and registers as may be required
- Communicate and liaise with Project Teams, Customer/ Suppliers/3rd parties to agree standards, systems, efficient flow of documentation, handover and close-out of Project activity to ensure consistency in document control as required
- Support the contract review process to determine documentation and certification requirements for new projects and post project reviews determining lessons learnt and improvements
- Implement and maintain document control processes and procedures
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in defence and/or aerospace supply chains
- Over 2 years experience in documentation pack collation and software use
- Over 2 years experience in engineering / safety critical regulatory environment
- Degree qualified or equivalent in a commercial or technical discipline (desirable)
Role specific compliance requirements include but are not limited to:
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
- Pass the BPSS security check
